Hey guys,

so today i want to talk about the three categories rocks are placed in. it simple.

so first we have:

Igneous - These are basically volcano rocks, or anything that is a product of solidified magma or lava. some example of igneous rocks are: Granite (one of the most common on earth, and is created by the slow cooling of Magma.), Basalt (made from the fast hardening of lava.), and Pumice (has a lot of holes made from gas bubbles, which enable it to float).

Metamorphic - These rocks are formed under high pressure and temprature. This causes the minerals in the rocks to chemically change into a different kind of mineral. Some examples are: Marble (The product of the minerals in limestone hanging) , Quartzite (previously sandstone made of mostly quartz grains.), and Slate (a product of a sedimentary rock called shale formed from layers of clay or ash.)

Sedimentary - Sedimentary rocks are made from other rocks being broken down over time and put under pressure to create a rock. another type of sedimentary are the biochemical sedimentary rocks. some examples are: Limestone (this is a type of biochemical sedimentary rock that is formed from dead marine life over millions of years.), Sandstone (these are made from sand particles being pressed together.), and Conglomerate (which is made up of large rounded pebbles).
