Hey guys,
So i was browsing the web and i found out about these two me, Oliver Grunewald, a photographer, and Regis Ettiene, the president of the Geneva's society of volcanology. They have travelled to Indonesia to make a documentary about the Kawah Ijen stratovolcano.
The true wonders of this volcano are it's late night presentation of neon blue lava flowing out of the volcano. The actual lava itself isnt blue, but the high amounts of sulfur in the area being burned gives off the blue color seen. This enviroment reaches 600 degrees Celcius and is toxic.
There is one big advantage of the amount of sulpher in the area. Many miners go to the lake in the area to collect sulfur chunks and carry them a couple miles to get paid. It is low paying and dangerous work for the miners.
This crater lake on Ijen is extremely acidic becuse of the mounds of sulfur lying around.

To read more on Grunewald you can visit his page here, but you're gonna have to speak French.
See you next time,
Brie :)
